The kcICON Project has received a 2011 Capstone Award from The Kansas City Business Journal. The area's top real estate development projects of 2010 were honored this week, with kcICON being recognized in the Infrastructure Category.

Bond Bridge is a SEAKM 2011 top pick

The Structural Engineers Association of Kansas & Missouri has awarded the kcICON Project a 2011 Excellence in Engineering Award for Kansas City's new, Christopher S. Bond Bridge.  The bridge was designed by Parsons and constructed by Paseo Corridor Constructors (Massman Construction Co.).  The award was presented to Parsons and MoDOT April 15, 2011 at the 2011 SEAKM Annual Meeting in Wichita, KS.  The purpose of the program is to recognize creative achievement and innovation in structural engineering.

ACEC/Missouri Recognizes kcICON Project for Engineering Excellence

The American Council of Engineering Companies/Missouri Chapter has awarded HNTB Corporation the 2011 Engineering Excellence Grand Conceptor Award for its consulting role in the kcICON Project. This top award lauds HNTB’s program management support during the implementation of MoDOT’s new design-build procurement process. Based on a best-value approach, this new process has resulted in a safer corridor with an iconic river crossing for millions of dollars less than the originally estimated cost.

kcICON Project Receives 2010 Excellence in Concrete Award

The Concrete Promotional Group of Greater Kansas City presented the kcICON Project with its 2010 Excellence In Concrete Judges Award in recognition of outstanding work in concrete construction. Approximately 30,000 cubic yards of concrete were used to construct the Christopher S. Bond Bridge and its approach spans. Additionally, approximately 219,000 square yards of concrete paving was used in the construction of the 4.7-mile interstate project.

kcICON Project Receives 2010 Keystone Award

The Clay County Economic Development Council honored the kcICON Project with a Keystone Award December 9, 2010 for its significant contribution to Clay County's economy and quality of life. These awards recognize new and existing companies that make a substantial impact in the Clay County community through significant capital investment, jobs creation, the improvement of neighborhoods and business districts, and for technological innovation.

 

Christopher S. Bond Bridge is a Roads & Bridges Magazine's Top 10 Award Winner

Roads and Bridges Magazine announced August 13, 2010 that Kansas City's Christopher S. Bond Bridge was selected as its 2010 No. 5 bridge in the nation. The Bond Bridge will be featured in the magazine's November issue with nine other bridges that made the publication's annual list of Top 10 Bridges. NPHQ Awards the kcICON Project for Making A Difference!

The kcICON Project received the National Partnership for Highway Quality's Bronze "Making a Difference" Award October 27, 2010 in Austin, TX. This workforce training award recognizes the team's exemplary on-the-job training program that offers minorities, women and economically disadvantaged individuals a chance to learn a trade and build a successful career in heavy construction.

kcICON Project team member Jontell Jones was bestowed the 2010 Rosa Parks Award at the Metro Organization for Racial and Economic Equity’s (MORE2) fifth annual Imagine Banquet. The event was held Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center.

The ASLA bestows design unbuilt award on kcICON Project

The kcICON Project has received an American Society of Landscape Architecture-Central States Design Merit Award. The design (un-built) award recognizes the team for its aesthetic enhancement and context sensitive design solutions; integration of the architectural identity of the new signature Christopher S. Bond Bridge into the overall aesthetic character of related corridor improvements, and engagement of key stakeholders and communities in a collaborate design and review process. The award was presented April 23, 2010 in Oklahoma City, OK.
